Established in 1959, GDTV is one of the earliest provincial television stations located in the capital city Guangzhou, with the highiset development and increasing influence within China.

　　Currently there are more than 1800 professional staff working in GDTV which is equipped with high-tech televion facilities on an international level.

　　GDTV makes great efforts to offer the service of television program hookup in the area of Guangdong Province, China's other regions and Asian-pacific. 　　It transmisses through "Asian Satellite-2",via the main microwave transmission line located in East,West and North Guangdong Province and forms an extensive network with powerful signal serving a population of more than 2 billion.

　　Fourthermore. Our programs cover an area north to the Russia, west to the Africa, east Europe, south to the southeast Asia, Australia and New Sealand. According to a survay done in December 1998, GDSTV's programs can be received in thirty two municipalities and provinces within China. Over one thousand of cable networks transport our signals to around 53.638 million households and there are altogether 210 million viewers watcing our programs.

　　Local visitors and oversees Chinese in Australia, New Sealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Tailand, Philippines, and Sri Lanka express their favor toward our programs. Located in China's south gate,GDSTV plays a leading edge in new social trends and fashions.

　　Under the Four-Level Cover,GDTV's Pearl River channel transmits signals all over the Guangdong province and its vicinity.

　　The Pearl River channel transmits program signals through the launching pad on the top of the Yue Xiu Mountain in Guangzhou and through the nearly two thousand kilometers'private microwave circuits spreading in all directions, to the major cities in Guangdong province and the areas in Pearl River Delta.

　　In the meantime,a TV network is formed through filling up arc covered areas by thousands of large and midium-sized relay stations in cities and counties.

　　Consequently, viewers in areas with more than 95% of the provincial population can get access to the Pearl River channel.

　　It is estimated that besides Guangdong and Hainan Provinces, millions of people in Guangxi, Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian province and areas of Hongkong and Macao are accessible to the programs of Pearl River channel.

　　Its signal covers a population of more than 100 million. The vast coverage and large numbers of viewers make the channel unique in Guangdong Province as well as in provincial-leveled television stations.
